Issue

You installed Ghost without problems. When you start the Ghost Console, you see the message "Unable to connect to database."

Solution

This problem is usually caused by one of the following:

Using terminal services to perform the installation
Though Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 1.0 and Symantec Ghost 8.0/7.5 supports using Terminal Services to control the Ghost Console, no Ghost version supports using Terminal Services to install Ghost. To resolve the problem, install Ghost at the server computer, rather than remotely.

Using "Manual" as the startup option for Ghost services
This problem happens when the startup options for the Ghost services are set to Manual. To resolve the problem, change the startup option for each service to Automatic. Use the procedure that is appropriate for your operating system.

Note: Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 1.0 and Symantec Ghost 8.0/8.2 are not supported in the Windows 95/98/NT environments.
