This document describes Symantec Ghost licensing requirements for virtual machines.
Depending on the situation, Symantec requires a license for each physical computer, as well as for any virtual machine (VM) that run Symantec Ghost. To clarify, if the base computer has been imaged with Ghost, a licensed copy of Symantec Ghost is required. This is true even if the computer will not be refreshed again.
Following are Symantec Ghost licensing examples and requirements:
- Symantec Ghost is used to build the base image and then image four VM sessions concurrently (at the same time). Five licensed copies of Symantec Ghost are required.
- Symantec Ghost is used to build the base image, Four different VM sessions exist, but only two run at the same time. Three licenses of Symantec Ghost are required.
- Symantec Ghost is used to manually configure the base image, and the base computer runs multiple VM sessions concurrently. A license is required for each concurrent session.
