Issue

You want to know if Ghost supports hard drives in AHCI mode. Symantec has had issues reported when using hard drives configured in AHCI mode. AHCI mode could result in Ghost clients freezing or locking up when restoring an image. We have also seen AHCI mode causing a PXE boot to act abnormal, causing various problems.

Solution

Currently, Ghost 11 (GSS 2.0) and lower, does not support hard drives or RAID configured in AHCI mode. This would include both the hard drive and SATA CD / DVD drives. SATA hard drives currently work with Ghost when the SATA settings in the BIOS is enabled for compatibility mode. The AHCI mode needs to be changed In the BIOS. The current workaround would be using a PE environment CD or thumb drive to run Ghost32.exe.
