Problem
How to upgrade a query engine in bv-Control for Windows v.8.5 or v.8.6
Symptoms
An error appears " the multi-job failed after exceeding maximum number of retries retries" in the query results when running patch assessment queries.
- Zero query results are returned after a query is run.
- An entry appears in the application log "unable to copy .xml file to {target_computer}".
- Information in this article applies to Control Compliance Suite (CCS) v.8.5 Data Collection and CCS v8.6 Data Collection.
Solution
Install the latest query engine cumulative hotfix (CHF) for bv-Control for Windows 8.5 or bv-Control for Windows v.8.6.
- Download the latest CHF for CCS Data Collection.
- NOTE: For help downloading the CHF, see "How to Obtain the latest CHF for CCS " at http://service1.symantec.com/support/intrusiondetectkb.nsf/docid/2007101811234353.
- Run the self-extracting executable for CCS CHF to unpackage the files.
- Using Windows Explorer, browse to <RMS_Console_Installation_Directory>
\Control\Windows\QE Hotfixes. - Double click Symantec_WIN_8XX_HF_WQL######.exe.
- The installation wizard will guide you through the install process.
- NOTE: You must restart the computer in order for the query engine installation to take effect.
