PREREQUISITES

  • Install the latest cumulative hotfix (CHF) for CCS v.8.60 Data Collection.
  • Push RF8600, RF8601, RF8602, and RF8606 on the bv-Control for UNIX target agent(s) before applying RF8607.


 

PART 1: Installing the update in RMS Console

Before installing the RF8607 RapidFire Update, close all the RMS products that are running on the computer.

Follow these steps to apply the update:

  1. Copy the RapidFire file RF8607.rf to a known location on the local disk. Do not change the file name.
  2. Launch the RMS® Console.
  3. In the left column, expand the bv-Control for UNIX.
  4. Right-click RapidFire Updates folder.
  5. Click Add RapidFire from the shortcut menu.
  6. In the File Selection dialog, locate the RapidFire file RF8607.rf saved in the first step.
  7. Select the file then click Open to initiate the RapidFire Update installation process.
    NOTE: This RapidFire must be applied on the computers hosting the Information Server only and not on the client computers.


 

PART 2: Distributing the RFU to target computers

There are two options to apply the RapidFire on the UNIX target computers.

OPTION A: Update all UNIX target computers in the Enterprise

 

    1. Select the appropriate server group in the product container.
    2. To apply a RapidFire on the selected server group, click the Action>Update RapidFire menu.
    3. From the Select RapidFire Package dialog box, select RF8607.rf.


OPTION B: Update specific target computers only
 

    1. Select the UNIX target computer that you want to update.
    2. To apply a RapidFire on the UNIX target computer, click the Action>Update RapidFire menu.
    3. From the Select RapidFire Package dialog box, select RF8607.rf.

Note: Patches for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.1, 9.2, 9.3, zLinux SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, 10.0 and Red Hat Linux 9.0, zLinux RHEL AS/ES 5.0, RHEL ES 4.0, RHEL ES 3.0, AMD Opteron RHEL AS/ES 5.0, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 5.0 of Intel Itanium architecture, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (ES) 10.0 of Intel Itanium architecture are not available in the LinuxRecommendedPatches.dat file.
