Issue

Control Compliance Suite (CCS) Reporting and Analytics Evaluations do not work with Red Hat Linux 5.2

Symptoms
When an evaluation is run against a set of Red Hat Linux 5.2 computers, the error "No Objects to evaluate" appears in the results.

Cause

This is a "Source Type Selection" error since CIS Level One Benchmarks check the version of Red Hat.

Solution

Confirm that Red hat v.5.2 Verify the Data Collector Console can query the target Red Hat 5.2 computer

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
In the RMS Data Collection Console, confirm that Red Hat v.5.2 can be successfully queried using CCS for UNIX.

  1. In CCS Reporting & Analytics, copy the built-in CIS Benchmark Standard, then rename it.
  2. Right-click on the new standard then click Export. Choose a location to export the file to.
  3. Browse to the exported file, then open it with Notepad.
  4. Search for sourcetype and copy/paste the label next to it. For example, it may say "Red Hat Linux Servers".
  5. Or determine the field to use by running an ad hoc bv-Control for UNIX query of Machines Data Source and include the OS Distribution Field. Use this value in step 6 below.
  6. In Notepad do a "Find and Replace all" with "RED HAT ENTERPRISE LINUX MACHINES" without the quotation marks.
  7. Save the file with a new name.
  8. In CCS Reporting & Analytics, go to Standards. Perform a Standards Import Job. Browse to the location of the new standard .xml file created in the above step.
  9. Run the new standard.
