Problem
Installation should install files in to the Global Assembly Cache (GAC). After the install runs, some or all of the files are always found in the root folder of the drive from which I run the install.
Environment
Wise for Windows Installer 6.x
Wise Package Studio 6.x
Cause
File_Application field is not null in the MSI Assembly table.
Solution
Workaround:
- In Setup Editor > Tables tab > MSIAssembly table, the File_Application field must be blank if the assembly is to be installed into the Global Assembly Cache (GAC).
- Remove the value from the File_Application column for any file that is installing to root.
- Go to the Files page and edit the Details of the file. Click on the Assembly tab.
If the assembly type is set to "None", change it to ".NET".
The files should no longer be created in the root folder.
