Issue

The Altiris Agent is unable to make a Configuration request to the Server, throwing the following error in the agent.log files:

<event date='Nov 29 14:57:24' severity='1' hostName='USSTZWD82000260' source='ConfigServer' module='AeXNSAgent.exe' process='AeXNSAgent.exe' pid='2032' thread='188' tickCount='1384859' > <![CDATA[RequestPolicies failed: Unexpected response from URL "http://Notification_Server_Name/Altiris/NS/Agent/GetClientPolicies.aspx?xml=http://Notification_Server_Name/Altiris/NS/Agent/GetClientPolicies.aspx?xml=<Request configVersion="2"><WrkstaGuid>{6BC4E08A-2398-407C-B476-C6AA5BFFF6D5}</WrkstaGuid></Request>&compress=1&hash=1: Unable to get the client policies for specified resource (Resource: {6bc4e08a-2398-407c-b476-c6aa5bfff6d5}, Exception: An unexpected exception has occured during CreateInstance. Environment

Notification Server 6.0

Cause

The Altiris.NS.TaskSynchronization assembly was broken or missing from the GAC (Global Assembly Cache) on the Notification Server.

Solution

Uninstalling and reinstalling Software Delivery Solution resolved the issue by generating the missing Assembly during the reinstall. This will work with other missing Assemblies for other Solutions as well (IE Carbon Copy)
