Errors like the following when processing NSEs.

Date: Nov 16 06:51:08:001
Source: EventRouter
Description: Failed to move file to be processed D:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\EvtInbox\INV47.nse Error -2147024864

Environment

Notification Server

Cause

The Notification Server log is due to the fact that the NSE is created in the EvtInbox directoy. The Notification Server will try to process it before it is done being copied. This can cause an error in the log. Example: "Failed to move file to be processed C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\EvtInbox\handheld.nse Error -2147024864”. With a normally loaded Notification Server, the message is rare, and the file will process as soon as it is completely transferred in most cases.

Solution

Change the line in the .INI being used for the AeXNSInvCollector.exe to place the files in the evtqueue or put them in postevent.aspx.

  1. aexnsinvcollector.exe /hidden /url "http://(ServerName)/aexns/postevent.asp" /useguid
  2. Change the line to point the files to the EvtQueue and do the following with the NS Configurator.
In the configurator Core Settings> Events Settings> Event Dispatcher> Dispatcherthrottledelay change the value to 1000.
