Problem
The Inv_Applicable_Microsoft_Software_Update is very large. Truncating the table does not help as the data comes back in from the clients.
Environment
Patch Management Solution for Windows 6.2 SP1
Cause
Software releases exclusions have been defined for operating systems as well as software.
This causes the problem because most applicable rules are simply "True" when associated to different software releases, such as Office, .net or operating systems like XP. Since many of these no longer exist the association portion of the rule no longer has anything to check against so the only check is the rule which simply declares itself as "True"
Note: The more languages being managed the greater the impact will be.Solution
This is fixed in version 7 of Patch Management Solution for windows.
For Patch Management Solution 6.2 please run the attached SQL script 'spPMCore_RemoveBadResourceAssociations.sql.' This will clear the missing associations. The steps to resolve the issue are:
~ Run the spPMCore_RemoveBadResourceAssociations
~ Run a full PMImport
~ Clear the IAD file on the client machine.
