Machine hangs, freezes or has to be rebooted
If the symptom occurred after installing or updating to Ghost Solution Suite 2.5.1, build 2266, contact Technical Support. Symantec development has provided replacement files from certified build 2269 (and any later builds) that fix this problem. These files can be obtained from Symantec Technical Support Refer to kb TECH131612. The files required are the Ghost Boot Wizard.exe and Machconf.dll. These files are only for those that have updated their Ghost Solution Suite to the LU5 (build 2266). Applying these files to any other build could cause other issues.
Inability to access the Ghost Boot Wizard (GBW) could also be an issue with the GBW incorrectly identifying or reading the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation).
- Change the SATA settings in the BIOS from RAID (or AHCI, IRRT) to "Legacy" or "ATA". Reboot the machine and attempt to open the Ghost Boot Wizard again
- Input any CD / DVD into the CD-ROM drive.
