Technical Solution

When trying to Hot Image a client the system fails to open the Ghost program.

When trying to do a Hot Image of a client machine the Ghost program does not display, only a white screen with no GUI.

The problem appears to be with SCSI pass through access to devices when the Intel AHCI controller is enabled.

There are several options to resolve this issue.
1. Disabling the AHCI in the BIOS will allow Ghost to work properly.
2. Putting CD or DVD media in the drive allows Ghost to work properly.
3. Contact Symantec Technical support and ask for TECH131612 for updated files for Ghost32.exe, Ghost64.exe, and GDisk32 from build 2269. Replacing the current files with these updated files has also resolved the issue.
