Configuring Veritas Cluster Server 5.1.x for Windows running on a Windows 2008 server with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 Maintenance Release 5 (MR5) installed fails.


Error



Failed to start the cluster. Error=FFFFFFFF. Failed to start services on all the nodes.


Solution



In order to configure Veritas Cluster Server on a Windows 2008 server that already has Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 MR5 installed, follow these steps. Configuring the server will fail unless these steps are performed.

To configure the server

  1. Download the attached zip file (bindview_34177.zip), and unzip it to a temporary folder.

  2. Double-click Bindview.exe.

  3. From the Network Binding GUI, select All Services, and then right-click Symantec Endpoint Protection Firewall.

  4. From the right-click menu, click Unbind From...

  5. Select all the components and click Unbind.

  6. Restart the server.

    Note: These steps must be repeated on all cluster nodes.
