Problem
Hotfix for Enterprise Vault (EV) 8.0 SP3, Build 1845, File server fault on pass-through recall of placeholder files which were compressed prior to archiving. Element not found error reported in File System Archiving (FSA) report.

this hotfix be applied?
This hotfix can only be applied to the following versions of Enterprise Vault for:
Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP3, Build 1845
What issues does this hotfix resolve?
File server fault on pass-through recall of placeholder files which were compressed prior to archiving.
Element not found error in the FSA task report during archive run.
Which files does this hotfix replace?
EvPlaceholderService.exe 8.0.3.1845
evmf.sys 8.0.3.1845
How to install this hotfix:
1. Copy the following files on the file server to another directory:
C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault\EvPlaceholderService.exe
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\evmf.sys
2. Stop the Enterprise Vault File Placeholder Service.
3. Go to the command prompt and run the following command:
fltmc unload evfilter
4. Copy the hotfix version of the EvPlaceholderService.exe file to C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault folder.
5. Copy the correct hotfix version of the evmf.sys file to C:\Windows\system32\drivers. There is a 32-bit and a 64-bit driver included in this hotfix.
6. Delete or set the following registry DWORD value to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EvFilter\PreCreateOverwritten
7. Go to the command prompt and run the following command:
fltmc load evfilter
7. Restart the Enterprise Vault File Placeholder Service.
How to Uninstall the hotfix:
1. Stop the Enterprise Vault File Placeholder Service.
2. Go to the command prompt and run the following command:
fltmc unload evfilter
3. Copy the original SP 3 version of the EvPlaceholderService.exe file to C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault folder.
4. Copy the original SP 3 version of the evmf.sys file to C:\Windows\system32\drivers.
5. Go to the command prompt and run the following command:
fltmc load evfilter
6. Restart the Enterprise Vault File Placeholder Service.
