Problem
Fatal Error when installing Backup Exec Media Server or Remote Agent
Error
The install failed with an unexpected error: Configuration system failed to initialize
Solution
Issue:
When installing Backup Exec Media Server or Remote Agent a Fatal Error may appear during install.
Note: Backup Exec installer now requires .NET 2.0 for installation of Backup Exec Media Server or Remote Agent.
Cause:
Possible corruption in .NET 2.0 install.
Solution:
If an error occurs during install of Backup Exec Media server .NET 2.0 may need to have one or both of the following competed
When installing Backup Exec Media Server or Remote Agent a Fatal Error may appear during install.

Solution:
If an error occurs during install of Backup Exec Media server .NET 2.0 may need to have one or both of the following competed
- Run a Repair install of .Net 2.0.
- Uninstall .NET 2.0 and Reinstall.
Note: If the .NET 2.0 is uninstalled for a Media Server Installation the Backup Exec installer will install .NET 2.0 during the pre install function.
