Problem
Does PCT run on WinPE?
Solution
No. Altiris does not support anything but Windows 9x and NTx systems. If run in DOS or WinPE, it will give any number of errors. The reason for this is that we need the Windows operating system loaded at least to the login screen to allow the use of the Windows SDKs. We have no code to handle the system while in PE, any other non-standard Windows state, or any non-Windows state. Personality migration can happen in a logged off state, but only if that means the system is running Windows, but still at the login prompt. The following is a list of supported operating systems for the capture and deploy.
Capture
Windows 95B, 98, ME, NT4, 2000 Pro, and XP (All)
Deploy
Windows 2000 Pro and XP (All)
Currently, PCT does not support server class operating systems.
