If VBR is uninstalled after upgrading to OpsCenter 7.0, OpsCenter will not be functional due to the removal of VxAT (Symantec Product Authentication service). This document explains how to reinstall AT and login to OpsCenter if this occurs.

Solution

How to install AT and login to OpsCenter if VBR / AT is uninstalled after the upgrade process to OpsCenter.
This procedure should only be followed if experiencing the issues noted in TechAlert 343756 (see the related documents section below) and cannot log in to AT).

1.  Log on to the OpsCenter host as Administrator.

2.  Insert the appropriate OpsCenter DVD in the DVD drive. Symantec Product Authentication Service can be installed from the OpsCenter DVD or from the NetBackup 7.0 media kit.

3.  Navigate to the following location to install AT:
From the OpsCenter DVD:  <DVD Drive>:\<PlatformArchitecture>\ICS directory.
From the NetBackup media kit: <DVD Drive>:\Addons\<PlatformArchitecture>\ICS\Authentication directory.

4.  Run VxSSVRTSatSetup.exe.

5.  The Welcome page of the Installation Wizard appears. Click Next.

6.  From the Setup Type screen, select Complete to install both the server and client components of AT. Click Next.

Note: Do not select Typical. This is because selecting "Typical" only installs the client component of AT.

7.  From the Authentication Broker Service Options screen, select Root + Authentication Broker as the Authentication Broker. Accept the default options for Cluster/SCM Options section on this screen. Click Next.

Note:  If a different authentication broker mode is being used, please contact Technical Services for further instruction.

8.  The summary screen that displays installation choices is displayed. Click Next.

9.  On the Root and Authentication Broker Password screen, do not enter any value for the Root Password and Authentication Broker Password. When the fields are blank, the authentication service is installed with the default password. Click Next.

10.  Accept the warning messages to retain the default root and authentication broker password. Click OK twice.

11.  The InstallShield Wizard Complete screen is displayed. Click Finish.

12.  Select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and stop the Symantec OpsCenter Server Service and Symantec OpsCenter WebServer Service.

13.  Start the Symantec OpsCenter Server Service and Symantec OpsCenter WebServer Service.

14.  Log on to the OpsCenter console.  However, wait approximately 5 minutes before logging on to OpsCenter this first time. This wait is needed for domains to be created for logging on to OpsCenter.

VxAT is now installed, if VX login and user types were used prior to upgrade, please proceed to step 15 to address these accounts.

15.  Click Settings > Users in the OpsCenter console.

16.  For each vx user listed that was present prior to upgrade, select/check the user and click Edit.

17.  In the General Details screen that appears for the user, click Reset Password.  Enter a password and click Save.
