Cause

This is an issue of Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) only. As of today, the following is being confirmed.

  • The symptom does not affect the 1st VMDK file including C drive or partitioned drives. The individual items in the 1st VMDK file can be restored successfully.
  • All the backed up VMDK files can be restored.

Solution

This issue has been resolved with Hotfix 344584. See the related documents for download information.

Workaround:

Please restore VMDK files using "VMware Redirection" to temporary virtual machine of ESX server (Figure 2 and 3), and add them to the virtual machine (Figure 4). You are able to find individual items (Figure 5).

Figure 2 - Select VMDK files in "Selection".

Figure 3 - Redirect VMware sets in "VMware Redirection".

Figure 4 - Add the restored VMDK files in "Virtual Machine Properties" of vSphere Client.

Figure 5 - Find individual items.
