Issue



Log backup of SharePoint ends with the exception "V-79-40960-37914 - Database DATABASENAME is configured to maintain transaction logs. Transaction log backups are not being performed. "


Error



V-79-40960-37914 - Database DATABASENAME is configured to maintain transaction logs.  Transaction log backups are not being performed.  This will result in the log growing to fill all available disk space.  Regular log backups should be scheduled or the database should be changed to the simple recovery mode.


Cause



If the exception occurs during a backup of Microsoft SharePoint where the Backup Method is set to "Log - Back up and truncate transaction log" then this exception can be safely ignored.  This can be checked in the properties of the backup job under the Microsoft SharePoint section. If the Backup method is set to anything else please see the related documents on how to perform a log backup with the option to truncate the transaction log.


Solution




Currently there is no workaround for this issue as it is just a GUI (Graphical User Interface) issue. Log backups are still performed of the database(s) selected for backup.
