Details:
 
Even the VSS & Microsoft shadow copy provider & 3rd part "XenServerVssProvider" snap shot provider are set to manual but the job still fail with the mentioned error.
 
In this case, it was found that drive volumes created on SAN Dell EqualLogic PS500 SAN uses its own snapshot & hand over to VSS. 
  • Check whether the volume is supported by a provider or
  • Add a volume to a shadow copy set.

    To resolve this issue follow the steps mentioned below:

    Select "Use AOFO" with "Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service with the snap shot provider "System-Use Microsoft Shadow Copy Provider" to take a snap shot backup of Shadow?Copy?Components & System state of windows 2008 server (Virtual server)
