Error



V-79-57344-65055 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "\\"Server Name"\Microsoft Information Store\Storage Group". Advanced Open File Option used: No.
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FE1F): The device cannot be found.


Solution



The release of SP2 for Exchange 2007 provided the ability to back up Exchange databases using the Windows Server 2008 native backup utility called Windows Server Backup. When backing up Exchange database, this utility functions by using Microsoft's VSS technology to take a snapshot of the Exchange database.

If VSS errors occur during backup jobs on a Window Server 2008 Exchange server, attempt a backup using Windows Server Backup. If snapshot errors occur when using Windows backup please contact your hardware vendor or Microsoft to resolve any VSS issues.

The Windows Backup Utility can be installed on any Windows Server 2008 operating system using the server manager tool.
