How to edit the SSR client installation packages in SSR-MS so that client computers do not automatically reboot after the install.
Environment
With Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 Management Solution, the default installation packages for Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) for the client computers contain settings which automatically reboot each computer after a successful installation. In many environments, this automatic reboot of the client computers is not desired. The BESR 2010 and SSR 2011 installation packages can be altered to remove this automatic reboot setting:
Solution
1. Go to the Packages and Policies tab
2, Expand Update Packages in the column on the left
3. Select the BESR installation package to edit (either Install With User Interface Package or Install Without User Interface Package)
4. Click on the Programs tab on the installation package
5. Select English (or the desired install language to edit) from the drop-down box
6. In the Command line field change REBOOT=Force to:
REBOOT=ReallySuppress
NOTE: For SSR-MS 2013, the REBOOT switch does not exist. Instead, the /BOOT switch must be removed.
7. In the After running drop-down box change the setting to No action required
8. Click Save changes
9. Click Update Distribution Points
7. In the After running drop-down box change the setting to No action required
8. Click Save changes
9. Click Update Distribution Points
When clicking on 'Install Symantec System Recovery 2011', ensure that the relevant language (as per step 5 above) is selected from the 'Program name' dropdown list, then enable and save the agent policy.
When new computers are selected under Install Policies to apply this installation package, the client computers will not be automatically rebooted. However, these computers will still need to be manually rebooted at a convenient time to complete the BESR installation prior to assigning and running a backup job.
