SBS services will not run because initialPXEConfigPath.txt is malformed or missing

Even though all PXE services start up and run, client computers will not PXE boot correctly. The services are likely misconfigured, which is related to the configuration files from which the services get their infomation.
The '_Symantec_netBoot_Interface' is first service that should run of the Symantec net boot services and engages in some preparatory actions before other netboot services will run correctly.
When starting up, the most visible indications of functionality are that port bindings are opened, and the 'SBSStore' (default path "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\Task Handler\SBS\SBSStore') folder is created. The file directly related to the configuration of SBS services and is read by the '_Symantec_netBoot_Interface' is the 'initialPXEConfigPath.txt' file. If this file is
**NOTE: If the service starts up, then immediately crashes, see KB 52439.
Deployment Solution 7.1
There are a few possibilities as to the cause of this issue:
- The file was not correctly written at initial installation of the product. Possibilities of install order or permissions may affect this.
- The file was accidentally or intentially modified manually at some point after installation by a user.
- The file was changed by an automatic process either hardware of software related.
In the '<Program Files>\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\Task Handler\SBS' directory, there should a file named 'initialPXEConfigPath.txt'. The contents of this file should be as follows:
Mtftp_Root_Folder=C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\Task Handler\SBS\Images
The install directory listed under 'Mtftp_Root_Folder' should match the Images install directory accordingly (should be one step down from where the 'initialPXEConfigPath.txt' file is located). Also, the IP Addresses listed under 'Server_Listeners' and 'Mtftp_Listeners' should be the same, and be the IP address of the SBS server (that the file is located on).
If the file includes different contents, copy/paste the text found here (modifying for your environment as necessary) into the file. If there is no 'initialPXEConfigPath.txt' present, create it using notepad and name it accordingly, including the text here as the contents of the created file. A template file (which has a default install path and blank IP addresses) is attached to this article as well.
