Issue

When trying to make any changes to a DeDuplication folder the following error occurs "Invalid Physical Volume Library Robot Identifier".

Error

"Invalid Physical Volume Library Robot Identifier".

Solution

This has been observed with a DeDuplication folder that is shared between a Central Administrator Sever Option (CASO) and a Managed Media Server (MMS). This can also occur if CASO and MMS are not installed.

When trying to make any changes to the DeDuplication folder the following dialog box appears. (see Figure 1.)

Figure 1.

Resolution

Remove sharing from the DeDuplication folder options if CASO and MMS are not installed or being used.
If CASO is installed and used, a restart of the Backup Exec Services will allow you to modify the DeDuplication folder.
