Issue

Backup of Enterprise Vault (EV) partitions completes with an exception "The Enterprise Vault services cannot create the PartitionSecuredNotification.xml trigger file for the backup of an Enterprise Vault Agent partition. Ensure that the credentials have the correct privileges and that there is sufficient free space on the partition."

Error

The Enterprise Vault services cannot create the PartitionSecuredNotification.xml trigger file for the backup of an Enterprise Vault Agent partition. Ensure that the credentials have the correct privileges and that there is sufficient free space on the partition.

Cause

Backup of Enterprise Vault partitions completes with the above mentioned exception when the Backup Exec Service Account (BESA) does not have permissions to create the 'PartitionSecuredNotification.xml' in the Vault Store Partition storage location.

This file is created once the partition has been backed up successfully. The file is created to confirm that the EV partition has been backed up and is secure.

Solution

  1. Open the the affected Vault Store Partition properties from Enterprise Vault Administration Console.
  2. Under the "General" tab, determine the path of the partition that is generating the exception.
  3. Navigate to the path using windows explorer.  Right click and select "Properies" then "Security" tab.
  4. Ensure that the BESA is granted full permissions to the folder.
  5. From the Sharing tab, ensure that the BESA has been granted access to the partition share.
  6. Ensure that BESA is a Domain Admin.
  7. Check for sufficient disk space on the destination machine.
