Solution

Backups of Hyper-V 2.0 guest systems with online cause stop error 0x000000CA when Backup Exec (BE) 2010 and Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) 2010 coexist.

Cause:
The symptom occurs when BE 2010 performs snapshot backups of Hyper-V 2.0 guest systems with online and "Symantec Software VSS Provider" is used for the snapshot provider.  "Symantec Software VSS Provider" is automatically selected for the snapshot backups when BE 2010 and BESR 2010 coexist in a system.  Please refer to the related documents section below for details.

Workaround:
To prevent snapshot backups from using "Symantec Software VSS Provider" automatically, please select "Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider" in Backup Job Properties explicitly. Please refer to the related documents section below for details.

Resolution:
Please downloaded MS hotfix from:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980856
