Flashbackup-Windows policy backup does not execute bpstart_notify or bpend_notify scripts

Error

bpfis main: FTL - execute_begin_backup_cmd() failed, status 77

Solution

The bpstart_notify or bpend_notify scripts are not called when running a Flashbackup or Flashbackup-windows policy

The alternative on a Flashbackup policy used to run flashbackups on a UNIX client is the DB_BEGIN_BACKUP_CMD and DB_END_BACKUP_CMD directives.
These are used in Flashbackup policy's backup selections tab.  The script referenced can then be run before the snapshot happens.

See page 68-69  of the NetBackup 7.0 Snapshot Client Administrator's Guide for instructions.

The Flashbackup policy Backup Selections would look similar to this:

METHOD=USER_DEFINED
DB_BEGIN_BACKUP_CMD=/usr/openv/NetBackup/bin/bpstart_notify_alternative_script
DB_END_BACKUP_CMD=/usr/openv/NetBackup/bin/bpstart_notify_alternative_script
/dev/vx/rdsk/volgrp1/vol1

That will run scripts before and after the flashbackup.

Note:  The DB_BEGIN_BACKUP_CMD and DB_END_BACKUP_CMD directives are not supported for Windows clients. This has been confirmed buy development.  An enhancement request has been submitted to request the same functionality for Windows Flashbackup clients.
