Problem
Deduplication Storage Folder shows offline if the postgresql-8.3 service is not started in Backup Exec 2010.
Error
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.
Cause
When Deduplication option is selected for the installation it installs the postgresql and creates a local user purediskdbuser on the Media Server and the postgresql-8.3 service runs under purediskdbuser account. If due to any reason the account's password is changed the same has to be modified in the services credential for postgresql-8.3 service. Backup Exec Deduplication Engine service is dependent on postgresql-8.3 service and it would fail to start with the error (Figure 1)

3. Apply the changed password to the postgresql-8.3 service
4. Restart the postgresql-8.3 service
