Problem
SFBASIC 5.1 keyless licensing activated when installing the product
Error
Apr 6 14:24:05 vxvm:vxconfigd: WARNING V-365-1-1 This host is not entitled to run Veritas Storage Foundation/Veritas Cluster Server.
As set forth in the End User License Agreement (EULA) you must complete one of the two options set forth below.
Solution
Following the SFBASIC 5.1 installation, the user may see the following nagware messages:
VxVM sysboot INFO V-5-2-3390 Starting restore daemon...
Apr 6 14:24:05 vxvm:vxconfigd: WARNING V-365-1-1 This host is not entitled to run Veritas Storage Foundation/Veritas Cluster Server.
As set forth in the End User License Agreement (EULA) you must complete one of the two options set forth below. To comply with this condition of the EULA and stop logging of this message, you have 60 days to either:
- make this host managed by a Management Server (see http://go.symantec.com/sfhakeyless for details and free download), or
- add a valid license key matching the functionality in use on this host using the command 'vxlicinst' and validate using the command 'vxkeyless set NONE
The limitations for using SF Basic 5.1 with keyless license:
Note: This
free version is limited to 4 user-data volumes, and/or 4 user-data file systems,
and/or 2 processor sockets in a single physical system.
If the use of the SF Basic 5.1 goes beyond the limitations
listed above, then a valid license keys will be
required.
SF 5.1 CPI Interface
When the user is prompted to license the SFBASIC components, they are NOT presented with an applicable option for a SFBASIC deployment:

Steps to reverse the keyless activation
Once the SFBASIC installation has finished, run the following commands to turn off the keyless activation and manual license the SFBASIC deployment :
Solaris based example
1.] To deactivate the keyless functionality
# ./vxkeyless set NONE
The following changes will take effect.
Remove: Storage Foundation Basic Edition
Continue (y/n)? y
2.] Official SFBASIC license for Solaris (sparc)
# vxlicinst -k IEZH-I6ZX-KDYE-6PA6-J3PP-TOCP-NCP
