 A differential backup of SQL database may report ' Cannot perform a differential backup for database "", because a current database backup does not exist. Perform a full database backup by reissuing BACKUP DATABASE, omitting the WITH DIFFERENTIAL option.'


Error



 
Backup job log shows:-
 
V-79-65323-3035 - Cannot perform a differential backup for database "<name>", because a current database backup does not exist. Perform a full database backup by reissuing BACKUP DATABASE, omitting the WITH DIFFERENTIAL option.

Cause



 

 This issue occurs when the internal status flag for a full database backup does not reset after creating a full database backup.
