Problem
Backup of Linux Virtual machine using AVVI( Agent for Vmware Virtual Infrastructure) fails with error: 0xe000ff18 - A communications failure has occurred with a Virtual Machine resource.
Error
Faulting application name: beremote.exe, version: 13.0.2896.0 Faulting module name: mounter.dll, Version 13.0.2896.112, time stamp: 0x0005ea5a.
Cause
If GRT is enabled for guest operating system backups using AVVI( Agent for Vmware Virtual Infrastructure) other than windows operating systems for example Linux/Netware virtual machines.
Solution
Perform non-GRT backups of Linux Virtual machines.
Note: Currently Symantec BEWS supports only Windows Guest Operating System running on Vmware ESX server for GRT restore.
