Final error category: Resource Errors

Unable to complete the operation for the selected resource using the specified options because the Backup Exec Agent for Microsoft Exchange Server did not install completely. The file VirtApi.dll is missing. Click Tools, click Install Options and License Keys on this Media Server, and then click Next to run the Install Wizard. On the Features list, ensure that the agent is selected for installation. Continue with the installation, and then retry the operation
 


Cause



Virtapi.dll which is required for GRT backups does not get installed with the Backup Exec Remote Agent if Exchange 2003 is installed on Windows 2003 server with SP1 as Backup Exec 2010 only supports Windows 2003 server with SP2 and later.

Solution



1. Open Backup Exec click Tools, click Install Options and License Keys on this Media Server, and then click Next to run the Install Wizard. On the Features list, ensure that the agent is selected for installation. Continue with the installation, and then retry the operation.
 
2. Uninstall the Backup Exec Remote agent from Add\Remove programs from the Exchange server, Install Windows 2003 server SP2, reboot the server and reinstall the Remote Agent
