Problem
NetBackup Enterprise Vault Agent support for Enterprise Vault installed in a MSCS cluster.
Solution
The NetBackup 6.5.4/5/6 Enterprise Vault Agent supports Enterprise Vault clustered in these MSCS configurations:
- Enterprise Vault 7.5 on Windows 2003, 2008 (x86, AMD64)
- Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP2 or higher on Windows 2003, 2008 (x86, AMD64) with Windows registry changes applied. See below for details.
The NetBackup 7.0 Enterprise Vault Agent supports Enterprise Vault clustered in these MSCS configurations:
- Enterprise Vault 7.5 on Windows 2003, 2008 (x86, AMD64)
- Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP2 or higher on Windows 2003, 2008 (x86, AMD64)
To enable the NetBackup 6.5.4/5/6 Enterprise Vault agent to detect an MSCS clustered Enterprise Vault 8 SP2 server, the following Windows registry keys and String Values (type REG_SZ) have to be added on each cluster node:
For x86 MSCS clusters
Create the following Key if it doesn't exist
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Admin\ConfigState
and add String Values
- "ClusVirtualServer"="virtual node name"
- "ClusResourceGroup"="EV Resource Group name"
For x64 MSCS clusters
Create the following Key if it doesn't exist
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\KVS\Enterprise Vault\Admin\ConfigState
and add String Values
- "ClusVirtualServer"="virtual node name"
- "ClusResourceGroup"="EV Resource Group name"
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from
functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry.
Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the
registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and
workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
