VMware vStorage Changed Block Tracking based features do not work on NetBackup 7

Solution

VMware vStorage Changed Block Tracking (CBT or cktEnabled ) based features do not work on NetBackup 7 although the virtual machine hardware is version 7.
Symptoms:
1. Although "Exclude unused and deleted blocks" is enabled, the backup of the virtual machine is close to the actual size of the vmdk file.
2. Although "Perform block level incremental backups" is enabled, the amount of data backed up during incremental backup appears to be close that of a full backup.
Solution:
Please see if the user credential in NetBackup to access vCenter server has the privilege for disk change tracking. Please note that the built-in VMware Consolidated Backup user(sample) role does not have this privilege. If the NetBackup user has this role, you must edit the role to include 'disk change tracking' privilege.
Login as an Administrator to vSphere Client GUI, navigate to Home ==> Administration ==> Roles view. Right client on the role, select Edit Role and select disk change tracking privilege.
