Solution

Name: NBU_DLO_61_5A_M.Windows
Date: May 19, 2010

================================================================================
This maintenance pack includes features and fixes to the Symantec NetBackup
Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO) 6.1 software.

See Readme_EN.pdf for detailed information on the new features and
enhancements included with Symantec NetBackup Desktop and Laptop
Option 6.1 MP5A.
================================================================================

=====================
DLO 6.1 MP5A features
=====================

Regrettably, the DeskTop/Laptop Option package 6.1 MP5 was posted with an
encryption incompatibility between DLO 6.1 MP3 and 6.1 MP4.  This
incompatibility needed to be resolved, and this package has been re-posted as
6.1 MP5A.  Symantec recommends that any customer running 6.1 MP5, reference
Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP5 and install 6.1 MP5A as soon as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this action.

The following sections describe the new DLO 6.1 MP5A features:
See "About Proliferation - Windows 7 support for Agent".
See "About PST Backup using VSS Snapshot".

About Proliferation - Windows 7 support for Agent

Feature Overview

DLO 6.1 MP5A Agent and all its components are compatible with the Microsoft
Windows 7 operating system, both 32-bit and 64-bit. All the features available
in NBU DLO 6.1 MP5A Agent are supported on this platform.

About PST Backup using VSS Snapshot

Feature Overview

DLO 6.1 MP5A provides a new VSS option method for taking backup of PST file(s).
This method is in addition to existing message level incremental (MAPI) and
non-incremental (non-MAPI) backup methods supported in DLO 6.1 MP4. The new
method uses Volume Shadow Services (VSS) framework provided by Microsoft on its
Windows platform. With DLO 6.1 MP5A, the administrator has three options for PST
files backup based on the DLO Agent versions being used. The administrator can
select one or more options for PST file backups as part of the same profile.
Multiple selections are recommended only when there are different versions
(MP3/MP4/MP5A) of the DLO Agent under the same profile. The multiple selections
allow earlier versions of the DLO Agent to continue using PST file backup
options which are supported by their respective releases (see section Backward
Compatibility for more details). If all DLO Agents are MP5A or later, under the
profile, then the administrator can go with just the VSS option for PST file
backup.

==========================================================================
Selecting VSS enabled PST File Backup from DLO 6.1 MP5A Console

The administrator can select VSS enabled PST file backup as part of the Profile
settings during any of the following tasks:
* Creating a new profile
* Modifying an existing profile
* Modifying global options

Creating a new Profile:

The red box in the following figure highlights the VSS option for PST file
backup in a new profile.

Inputs required for selecting VSS option for PST file backup from DLO 6.1 MP5A
Console UI:
Input1:  Check-box for enabling/disabling VSS option:  When the administrator
enables the VSS option checkbox, the following message will appear:

Click the Yes button on the message.
Input2: Scheduled Backup Interval: Specify the backup scheduled time interval.
The minimum interval for scheduled backup is 30 minutes.
Input3: VSS DUDF revisions when Agent in Offline mode: Specify the number of
revisions to be maintained in DUDF when DLO Agent is in offline mode and VSS
option is selected for PST files backup. You can specify a value from 1 to 5.
The default value is 1.
Note the following:
(i) The "DUDF" must be enabled for a Profile. If the DUDF is in disabled state,
no revisions will be maintained in DUDF.
(ii) If the DUDF and the VSS DUDF are different revisions, the DLO Agent uses
the greater revision. For example, if the DUDF revision is 0 and the VSS DUDF
revision is 2, then 2 revisions are maintained locally. If the DUDF revision is
set to 10, and the VSS DUDF revision is set to 4, then 10 revisions are
maintained locally.

Input4: Ignore PST files not configured to Outlook for backup:  Select this
option if you do not require backup of the PST files, which are not configured
to Outlook,. If this option is not selected, such PST files are treated as
normal files and are backed up like any other normal file (*.txt, *.doc etc).

Modifying an existing Profile

The red box in the following figure highlights the VSS option for PST file
backup in an existing profile.
Inputs required for selecting VSS option for PST file backup from DLO 6.1 MP5A
Console UI:
Same as explained for Creating New Profile.

Modifying Global Options
The red box in the following figure highlights the VSS option for PST file
backup from the global options dialog box.

Console UI:
Same as explained for Creating New Profile.

==========================================================================
MP5A Agent UI Enhancements for PST File Backup:

DLO 6.1 MP5A Agent displays the backup/restore timestamp details (pop-up dialog
box) for Outlook PST files which are recently backed-up or restored. You can
access this information by clicking Recent Outlook PST file backup/restore
status on the Status window and the Restore window.
Please note the following about when and how the backup status information is
displayed:
* The VSS option must be enabled for PST file backup.
* The DLO Agent must have run at least one backup cycle.
* The current backup operation cycle overwrites the previous backup status
information, if any.
* If you restore a PST file that was recently backed up, both the backup and
the restore timestamp are displayed in the UI. However, if the restored file
is not the one which was backed-up recently, the restore timestamp is not
displayed.
* If you exit the Agent and launch it again, any backup/restore timestamp
details are still available until new backup/restore operation is performed.

a. The following figure shows the backup status information from the Status
window:

b. The following figure shows the backup status information from the Restore
window:

Note:  Even if the VSS option is not enabled as part of Profile settings (in
Console UI), these links will still appear on the Agent UI. However, clicking
on these links will not show any information.

==========================================================================
Enable Logging for VSS enabled PST file backup

Use the following procedure if you want to enable verbose logging for the VSS
option.
To enable logging for the VSS option
1. Add the following registry key to enable verbose logs (dlovssrequestoru.log)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\Components\debugstream\DLOvssRequestorU.exe
The default value must be 0xFFFFFFFF
2. The default location for the "dlovssrequestoru.log" log file is
"\DLO Installation Path\Logs".
3. Stop and start the "Symantec NetBackup Desktop Agent Change Journal Reader"
service.

Backward compatibility

DLO 6.1 MP5A allows the administrator to select more than one option for PST
file backups from Console UI as part of same profile. This allows earlier
versions of DLO Agents (such as MP3 or MP4) to continue using MAPI or non-MAPI
methods. The following table gives all the possible combinations of PST file
backup selections and how these settings are applied to DLO Agents falling
under the same profile.

Advantages of VSS-enabled PST file backup

The following section describes some of the advantages to using VSS-enabled PST
file backup.

Reduced Drive space usage
The existing Non-MAPI implementation of PST file backup makes use of the DUDF,
which impacts the end user's disk space and creates overhead when data is move
from PST to the DUDF.

How VSS addresses this concern:
* When a DLO Agent that uses the VSS option is connected to the network (in
online mode), no local copy of PST file is stored in the DUDF, which means that
no additional local disk usage is required. A full copy of the PST is
maintained on the DLO File Server on the first backup. On subsequent backup,
either the changes or full revision is maintained on the File Server, based on
the profile settings. Only the delta map file is maintained in the DUDF (even
if the DUDF revisions are set to 0 for the Profile) which is generally of
negligible size.
Even if the Delta setting is not enabled for the profile, the VSS option does
not require local disk usage because the entire PST file is sent to the DLO
File Server.
* When a DLO Agent that uses the VSS option is not connected to the network
(in offline mode), it needs to maintain the backup copy of PST file locally.
In this case DUDF space is required. However, the administrator can use Profile
Settings to limit the requirement of local disk usage by specifying the number
of revisions (minimum value is 1 and maximum is 5) to be maintained in DUDF.
The number of revisions will not grow more than the specified limit.
If the limit is exceeded, earlier revisions will be groomed to make space for
new revisions. After the DLO Agent comes online, the latest revisions are sent
to the DLO File Server, based on the revision limit specified for the VSS
option in Profile settings.
Maintaining local revisions when the DLO Agent is in offline mode provides
flexibility to agent users because they can restore the PST at any point of
time.
Note: For VSS-enabled backup when the Agent is offline, the administrator must
enable the "DUDF" for a Profile if revisions are required to be maintained
locally.
==========================================================================
Ensures backup of consistent PST files

When Outlook is updating the source PST file, it makes the source PST files
unusable for any other application. Backing up a PST file at such a time backs
up an inconsistent PST file. If a user restores such an inconsistent PST file
and configures it with Outlook, Outlook may not able to open this PST file
properly. Such PST files needs to be repaired (using standard utilities like
scanpst.exe) in order for it to be usable.
DLO takes extra precautions to ensure that it performs the backup of PST files
when it is in a consistent/usable state. VSS-enabled backups offer backup at
periodic, configurable intervals. When the backup is triggered at a scheduled
interval,  DLO checks for source PST file consistency. It will backup only
when source PST file is in consistent state. If the source PST file is in an
inconsistent state, DLO attempts the backup after every three minutes until it
finds that the source PST file is in a consistent state. DLO Agent makes the
attempt up to a maximum of five times during one scheduled backup interval
cycle. If all of the attempts are unsuccessful, DLO agent attempts the backup
at the next scheduled interval and follows the same logic.

==========================================================================
Known issues related to PST file backup in MAPI and Non-MAPI methods are
addressed

* Unlike MAPI and Non-MAPI features, which does not fully support operations
such as  Shift+Delete of an item or folder or renaming of folders in the
backup copy of PST file, the VSS option allows all modifications that can be
done on a source PST file.
* Initial VSS-enable PST backups are much faster than MAPI-based backups
* The VSS option allows PST revisions to be maintained, unlike MAPI-based PST
backups.

==========================================================================
Requirements

==========================================================================
Volume Shadow Copy service enabled

To use the VSS option, Volume Shadow Copy service must be running on the Agent
in an "enabled" state (either manual or automatic). If the service is
disabled, the user must enable this service on the system.
Note: The DLO Agent does not enable the Volume Shadow Copy (VSS) service if it
is disabled.
To determine the state of the Volume Shadow Copy service on the user's system
1. Choose Start --> Run and type "services.msc".  Click "OK".
2. In the Services windows, select the Standard tab.
3. Locate Volume Shadow Copy ion the alphabetical list. Look at the Startup
Type column.

If the service is enabled, the Startup Type is either Manual or Automatic. If
it is not enabled, the Startup Type is Disabled.
To enable Volume Shadow Copy service
(i) On the Services window, right-click the "Volume Shadow Copy" service and
select "Properties".
(ii) On the General tab, select either Manual or Automatic from the Startup
Type drop down menu. Automatic is recommended.

Note: If the Volume Shadow Copy service is Enabled but the status is Stopped,
the DLO Agent will start the service when the backup job is triggered. After
the service is started, the DLO Agent will not "Stop" the service.

==========================================================================
Hard disk space requirement for creating shadow copies for a volume

When you enable shadow copies on a volume, you can specify the maximum amount
of volume space to be used for the shadow copies. The limit is configurable;
the default value is 10 percent of the source volume (the volume being copied).
Refer to the following article for more information
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc728305(WS.10).aspx.
The DLO Agent uses some of the total hard disk space allocated for enabling
shadow copies for a volume at the time of creating the volume snapshot (shadow
copy). After the volume snapshot is deleted, this hard disk space is released
for system use. The DLO Agents delete the volume snapshot immediately after
the backup of PST files available on that volume is completed.

==================================
Differences from previous releases
==================================

* Localization is not supported in MP5A:  MP5A supports only the English
version. Do not apply this version if localization is a requirement.
* Interval based protection for a PST file is not supported. The administrator
needs to schedule the backup interval time in the Console. However, the agent
user can always perform the PST backup at any point in time by using the
manual backup option from the Agent UI.
* If a user has set any Global Exclude rules for PST files settings for email,
the VSS option does not apply them.
* Suspend is supported for the VSS option, but resumes re-start the backup job.
You can define the resume interval, and the next backup will start at the
defined interval.
* Help Topics /Administrator Guides are not updated for VSS option in MP5A.
* FAT32 file systems are not supported because the VSS framework does not
support FAT32 file systems. For such file systems, the users must use existing
message level Incremental or Non-Incremental PST file backup options.
* If the VSS option is enable on a DLO Agent and the user on the Agent UI
selects folder on a FAT32 drive for the backup selection, the following
message appears:

* If the administrator selects the VSS option as part of the Profile Settings
in DLO Console UI, a message appears stating that "PST Backup using VSS is not
supported on FAT32 file system".

==========================================================================
Installing and upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A

Use the instructions in the following sections to install or upgrade DLO.

Installing NBU DLO 6.1 MP5A
This installation package can be used to install a new DLO Administration
Server or to upgrade an already existing DLO Administration Server. For a new
installation, see the NetBackup Desktop/Laptop Option Administrator's Guide
for detailed instructions.

==========================================================================
Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP5

All MP5 customers must apply EEB (NB_DLO_6.1MP5_ET2012075_2.zip) on their
existing MP5 setup before upgrading to MP5A. This EEB is supplied along with
the DLO 6.1 MP5A package. Please refer to its Usage Guide on how to use the
EEB. Only after EEB is applied, existing setup should be upgraded to MP5A.
Note: If EEB has been applied earlier successfully on existing MP5 setup,
then user need NOT to apply the EEB again.
Procedure for upgrading to MP5A from MP5 is same as upgrading from any earlier
version like MP4/MP3 (Refer section "Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP4 or
earlier version" for more details). However, following checks are performed by
MP5A installer when you are upgrading from MP5 to MP5A:
1. DLO 6.1 MP5A installer detects the version of existing DLO setup.
2. If version is MP4 or earlier, DLO 6.1 MP5A installer proceeds with
installation as explained in section "Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP4 or
earlier version"
3. If it is MP5 setup, then DLO 6.1 MP5A installer detects whether the EEB has
been applied on existing MP5 setup or not.
a. If EEB has been already applied to existing MP5 setup successfully, then
DLO 6.1 MP5A installer proceeds with installation as explained in section
"Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP4 or earlier version".
b. If EEB is NOT applied yet to existing MP5 setup, then DLO 6.1 MP5A
installer prompts the user to run the EEB before upgrading to MP5A and aborts
the current installation. Note: Existing MP5 customers must apply EEB before
upgrading to MP5A.

==========================================================================
Upgrading DLO Remote SQL Server setup

If an existing setup is DLO 6.1 MP4 or MP5 and If DLO Database is installed on
remote SQL Server then upgradation to MP5A must be carried out in the
following order:
Important Note: All MP5 customers must apply EEB
(NB_DLO_6.1MP5_ET2012075_2.zip) on their existing MP5 setup before upgrading
to MP5A. (Refer section Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP5 for more details)
(i) Existing DLO database (MP4/MP5) must be un-installed first.
(ii) Upgrade to MP5A database.
(iii) Now un-install DLO Admin Server and other components (MP4/MP5)
(iv)  Upgrade to MP5A.

Upgrading to DLO 6.1 MP5A from MP4 or earlier version
The DLO 6.1 MP5A installer works similarly to previous updates. The installer
detects all of the installed feature components and updates them to the new
version.

When you upgrade from any previous DLO version, the existing components are
first uninstalled, and then reinstalled.

Key points which Administrator must be aware of when upgrading existing
version of DLO to MP5A
1. Existing Profile settings are retained after upgrading. The VSS option is
not enabled by default. The Administrator must edit existing profile settings
or create a new profile with the VSS option enabled.
For example, after an upgrade, DLO 6.1 MP3 or DLO 6.1 MP4 Agents retain their
PST backup setting. If before the upgrade the MP4 Agent was using MAPI method
for PST backup, then it will continue using MAPI method after the upgrade. See
Backward Compatibility.
2. After upgrading to MP5A, if you select the VSS option and if DUDF revisions
number is also specified, DLO does not maintain new revisions in the DUDF as
long as the previous mirror copy of PST file (created by previous backup cycle
using MAPI / Non -MAPI method) is present.  Note that backups continue to
happen in Network User Data folder (NUDF) using the VSS option. DLO does not
delete the previous mirror copy of PST file in the DUDF because the end user
may want to use it later.
This behavior can also be seen even after upgrade to MP5A. For example, if the
last backup for PST file was performed with the MAPI or Non-MAPI method and
now you change it to VSS option. DLO would have created a mirror copy of PST
file in DUDF in both MAPI (when number of revision in DUDF is set to 1 or
more) and Non-MAPI (even if number of revisions in DUDF is set to 0) case.
To make new revisions copy to the DUDF when using the VSS option, mirrored
copies of the PST file, if there are any, they need to be deleted from DUDF
folder. You can do this in following ways:
(i) (Recommended) When selecting a new method for PST file backups in the
Profile settings, the Administrator can set the option to Discard all the
revisions on DUDF which are older than n days. DLO then deletes the mirror
copy after specified number of days has elapsed.
(ii) The end user can delete the mirror copy manually from the DUDF folder.

==========================================================================
Upgrading DLO desktop agents

Always back up your database before you upgrade. See the "Backing Up and
Restoring the DLO File Server and Database" section in the NetBackup
Desktop/Laptop Option Administrator's Guide for specific instructions to back
up your database.

When you upgrade an existing installation, you must upgrade the DLO
Administration Server before you upgrade Desktop Agents. Close the NetBackup
DLO Console before starting the server upgrade process. Browse to the root
folder on the installation CD and run setup.exe from that location. The
upgrade proceeds as described in the Administrator's Guide.

You must upgrade the Desktop Agent software to take advantage of the fixes and
new features in this maintenance pack, although older versions will continue
to function.

Administrative permissions are required on the desktop computer to run the
upgrade.

Note: To upgrade Desktop Agent from the DLO Administration Console, refer to
the step-by-step instructions in the "Updating DLO" section of the NetBackup
Desktop/Laptop Option Administrator's Guide.

? To upgrade the Desktop Agent directly from the Desktop Agent computer
1. From the desktop computer, browse to the network server where the
installation files for the Desktop Agent are stored. The default location is
\\<DLO AdministrationServer name>\DLOAgent.
2. Run setup.exe.
3. If the Volume Shadow Copy service is disabled on the DLO Agent system, you
see the following message:

The new DLO VSS component (DLOvssRequestor.exe) on the Agent is responsible
for taking the VSS snapshot. The installer deploys the correct DLO VSS
component for each supported platform, but the Volume Shadow Copy service on
the DLO Agent determines how the DLO VSS component works. For the DLO VSS
component to function, the Volume Shadow Copy service must be enabled on the
DLO Agent system.

Click Yes to enable the Volume Shadow copy service and continue with
installation process.

Click No or Cancel if you DLO installer will not enable the Volume Shadow copy
service but will continue with installation process.

Known Issues
============

This section describes known issues that exist in DLO 6.1 MP5A. The issues are
listed by ET number (software bug tracking number).
ET1904465
Description:
Source PST gets corrupted when restore is done without closing Outlook.
This problem occurs in the following scenario:
1. Launch the Outlook first.
2. Create a PST file in the DLO backup selection.
3. Launch DLO agent.
4. Let the initial backup happens for the newly created PST.
5. Restore the PST to an alternate location.
6. Open the restored PST from the outlook

Key points:
(i) Issue is reproducible on both OL 2003 and 2007. More consistent on OL 2003.
(ii) Issue occurs when PST file is restored immediately and configured with
Outlook when source PST is still open. If any operation is performed on source
PST before configuring the backup PST then no problem is seen.

To avoid this issue, take the following actions:
(i) Once the PST is restored to an alternate location, (i.e. after Step 5)
close the outlook application and reopen it. Now proceed with configuring the
restored PST with Outlook.

ET1931449
Description:
On Profile when no email options are selected, Recent Outlook PST back/Restore
status link is still available for the agent.
This problem occurs in the following scenario:
1. If VSS option is not enabled as part of Profile settings (in Console UI)OR
if none of the "Mail  Option" (VSS \MAPI \ Non-MAPI) is selected as part of
Profile settings (in Console UI)
2. Launch the agent which has got the above profile.

Impact:
It is a cosmetic issue in Agent UI. It does not impact any other functionality.

ET1951328
Abstract:
Recent backup status displays the backup completion time stamp & Restore
wizard displays Backup start time stamp.

Description:
On the Restore tab, though the Column Name suggests "Date Backed up", the
actual time stamp will be of the date & time when that backup is initiated.

For a VSS PST backup, when Recent Outlook PST Backup/Restore status is clicked,
it will display the Actual date & time on when the PST is backed up. (This is
not the date & time when that backup is initiated but of backup completion).
This time stamp matches with the "Date accessed".

Not a Defect:

Any file present on the disk will have following timestamps -->
1. File Creation timestamp: This is the time when file is created on the disk.
2. File last Modification timestamp: This is the time when file is last
modified on the disk.
3. File last accessed timestamp: This is the time when file is last accessed
on the disk.

"Date Backed up" column in Restore tab refers to File Creation time and
"Recent Outlook PST Backup/Restore status" link displays the Backup / restore
completion timestamp (which should ideally match with File last modification
time or last accessed time).

Impact:
None

ET1961843
Abstract:
After suspending the VSS jobs, they are not resuming for delta enabled backup
selection. This problem is seen in a particular scenario when VSS option is
enabled,
DUDF is set to 0 and delta is enabled.

     Comments:
This is just cosmetic issue related to Agent UI. Resume does happen as per the
interval set  by user though the job is not visible in the Agent UI.

User can verify if backup was resumed and completed successfully by checking
the "Restore View". If backup file is present there as per the resume interval
set by user, it indicates the resume operation did happen and got completed
successfully.

ET1965436
     Abstract:
"Recent Outlook PST file backup status" link in Agent UI will not display the
PST backup timestamps if both FAT and NTFS drives are under backup selection.
How you can see this problem:
1. Have a backup selection for PST files on a NTFS drive and a backup
selection for normal files on a FAT drive.
2. Modify a file on the FAT drive and modify the configured PST file and run
the backup job manually.
3. Click on the link "Recent outlook PST file backup status (only for VSS)" on
the 'Status' or 'Restore' view.

Observation:
You may see Pop-up appears with the message, "This information is available
only for VSS backup" instead of last successful backup timestamp information.

ET1968340
     Abstract:
If agent is refreshed or any changes are made to the profile when the PST job
is in retry, the 'Backup/Restore status' will pick up the old timestamp.

Comments:
This is a minor cosmetic issue in DLO Agent. Though it is expected to clear
off the last backup timestamps whenever new backup cycle triggers, but in this
scenario it is not clearing off.

ET1968353
      Abstract:
If the Backup selection has subfolders, and only one PST file is modified,
it will run backups for all other PST in subfolders too.

Comments:
This problem is seen when PST files are stored in subfolders/nested folders
under the parent folder which is marked as the backup selection.
E.g.:
C:\Personal\MyPST1.pst
C:\Personal\Friends\MyFriends.pst
C:\Personal\Family\MyFamily.pst

To avoid this problem, maintain PST files either in the same folder or in
different folders which are not sub-folders/nested folders of the backup
selection.
E.g.:
C:\Personal\MyPst1.pst
C:\Friends\MyFriends.pst
C:\ Family\MyFamily.pst

Abstract:
In retry mode, when the job is suspended it runs at predefined retry interval
(3 minutes) rather than interval defined during suspend job.

Description:
When job is in retry mode and backup is happening, and if job is suspended for
duration which is longer than retry interval (which is 3 minutes) it resumes
automatically after 3 minutes irrespective of what is the resume interval
defined for suspended job.

Abstract:
After upgrading the agent, upgrade popup comes whenever agent is launched
followed by a occasional forced reboot.

Comments:
This issue is very rarely observed. However, it is recommended to save and
close all other applications on the Desktops and Laptops before upgrading the
DLO agent. Usually the system reboot happens after DLO agent upgrade.

Abstract
Automated agent upgrade for DLO 6.1 MP5A does not work on Vista / Windows7

When you launch the automated DLO agent upgrade on Windows Vista / Windows7
clients, the agent is not upgraded.

Comment/Workaround:
This issue exists because the system services are isolated from user
applications and run as separate sessions. Any interactive interface for the
system services is unavailable to the user.
To interact with the service, the Interactive Services Detection service in
Windows Vista / Windows7 presents a dialog. The dialog will switch the user to
the session where the service is running.
By default, the service is run manually. You need to start the service
manually or set it to run automatically. To avoid this problem, before you
upgrade the DLO agent on a Windows Vista / Windows7 client, start the
Interactive Services Detection service on the client.

Abstract
Emergency restore is failing for delta enabled backups in a particular
scenario.

Description:
1. On the agent machine, backup any file greater than 256 KB with Delta
enabled for the backup selection.
2. Modify the file and take few more delta revision backups.
3. Restore the base revision to the original location. (Or if you have a copy
of the base revision of this file saved somewhere, overwrite it with the
source file after delta revisions are backed up)
4. Modify the restored/over written file (base revision) and take few more
delta revision backups.

Problem:
Emergency restore will fail for this file.

Workaround:
1. Any revision of the file can be restored from the Agent
2. Except for the base revision any revision can be restored from the Console.
3. If the backed up revision which has got older date than its previous
revision is deleted from the storage location then all the revisions can be
restored from console and Emergency Restore will also work fine.

Troubleshooting Tips
====================

The following describes some issues that you may experience. A clarification
or a tip to avoid the issue is provided.

1. DLO installer displays "Error 1321. The installer has insufficient
privileges to modify the file
C:\ProgramFiles\Symantec\NetBackupDLO\Data\DLO.mdf."

Explanation
This error occurs if you uninstall the DLO server and attempt to reinstall it
to the same location with a SQL Server 2005 database.
When you uninstall the DLO server, the database files (DLO.mdf and
DLO_log.LDF) are not deleted. When you attempt the reinstallation, the DLO
installer uses these database files instead of installing new versions. These
files require full rights to be used.

Normally the administrator has full rights to these files however, the error
may still occur.

Resolution
Make the following changes to each file:
? Right-click on the file and select Properties.
? On the Security tab, grant full rights to the Administrators group.

2. Upgrade to DLO 6.1 MP5A fails if the Service Control Manager is open.

Resolution
To avoid this issue, always close the Service Control Manager whenever you
install, uninstall, or upgrade DLO.

3. When upgrading from DLO 6.1 MP4 to MP5A, the following error occurs:
"Another application has exclusive rights to C:\~xpdloshareu.log".

Explanation:
This problem occurs when the DLO database service is running while you
upgrade to DLO 6.1 MP5A. To resolve this issue, stop the DLO database service.
Then, on the error message page, click Retry.

Resolution
Always stop all DLO services before you start the upgrade.

4. MP5A Agent is not able to do backup for PST files using VSS, even though
VSS feature is enabled in for that user.
  Resolution
* Ensure that Volume Shadow Copy service is enabled on the user's system.
* If VSS service is enabled, the PST file may reside on FAT32 drive.
VSS-enabled backups are not supported on FAT32 file system.
