Error ECE3006A: Unable to send notification e-mail. The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server response was not available.


Solution



This error can occur if the SMTP server does not support the authentication method chosen when SMTP email was configured in Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery. The solution for this issue is to change the authentication type to Anonymous:

1.  Go to the Tasks drop-down menu and select Options

2.  Click on "SMTP Email"

3.  Change "SMTP Authentication" to Anonymous

4.  Click Apply and then OK
