Problem
The Altiris Service and the Altiris Client Message Dispatcher services are stopping on a regular basis causing the server to need to be rebooted. Faulting application AeXSvc.exe, version 6.0.6074.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x00015dea. Outofmemoryexceptions were also noted around the same time.
Environment
Notification Server
Inventory Forwarding
Reporting Server being at SP3
Cause
When an Inventory Scheduling task is created in Notification Server SP2, there are two schedules created on the server it will be forwarding information to.
After both servers have been upgraded to SP3 only one of the schedules is required. A schedule being run on the Reporting Notification Server called NS.Replication Resource appears to be causing the problem.
This schedule is no longer needed if both computers are at SP3.
Solution
If both the forwarding Notification Server and the Reporting Notification Server are at SP3, the schedule is no longer needed and may be deleted or disabled. The schedule is in Start > Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks, and then disable or delete the NS.Replication Resource schedule that references the server that is crashing.
This schedule can get re-created if the Inventory Forwarding rule is modified so changes are applied.
