The error "/beremote: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/VRTSralus/bin/libsth.so: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied" might appear after successful install of RALUS and when RALUS is started either from etc or opt directories

Error

/beremote: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/VRTSralus/bin/libsth.so: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied

Solution

This error is being generated because of the SELINUX (Security Enhanced Linux) environment.  SELINUX gives the administrator a way to make fine grained security decisions on a Linux system.  This can be verified by temporarily turning off the security enforcement using the /usr/sbin/setenforce 0 command and retrying the load of the Remote Agent for Linux Servers.

If this resolves the problem, then a security mechanism implemented by SELINUX is preventing RALUS from loading.  Either that security mechanism must be modified, or leave SELINUX turned off.

Warning: The decision to disable the SELINUX functionality one that should be made by the administrator of the system.  Turning it off does have an effect on the security of the system.
