 Error when opening console after migration from SMSMSE 5.0.X to SMSMSE 6.5.0 when SMSMSE 5.0.X had customized Server Group(s)


Solution



This problem is fixed in Symantec Mail Security 6.5.1 for Microsoft Exchange. To download the latest release, read Obtaining an update or an upgrade for a Symantec Corporate product.
 

Workaround

  1. After successful upgrade from SMSMSE 5.0.x to SMSMSE 6.5.x and before launching the SMSMSE UI console, you have to make modification in the Assets.xml file located at: <ProgramFileFolderPath> \Symantec\CMaF\2.1\Settings\Assets.xml
  2. Open the Assets.xml file in any text editor.
  3. Now, identify Customized/User-defined Server Group name in Assets.xml file.
  4. For each Customized/User-defined Server Group name, change the xml tag <Type>SMSMSE60_E2000_2003_group</Type> to <Type>SMSMSE65_E2000_2003_group</Type>. This is an important step in case of Customized\User-defined Server Group Names.
  5. Save the changes to Assets.xml.
