1. Open Control Compliance Suite 9.0 Console.

2. Click on Manage | Asset System.

3. Select the folder that contains all the assets to be exported.

4. Set Asset Type to “Windows Machine” (NOTE: This can change depending on what asset type needs to be exported). (circled in the center in the picture below)

5. Click on “Column Chooser” (icon is circled on the right in the picture above).
6. Select all the mandatory fields. Rule of thumb – any field name starting with “Asset” is optional. Other fields that are optional are “Confidentiality”, “Availibility”, and “Integrity”. (see above)

7. Click on File | Export To… | CSV file.

8. Save the CSV file to the desktop (name it whatever).

9. Click on Tasks | Asset Tasks | Export CSV Headers.

10. Save the file to the desktop (name it SampleHeaders.csv).

11. Open SampleHeaders.csv in Notepad (from step 10).

12. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the file to the section “[CSV Format for Asset Import]”.

13. Delete any fields starting with “Common.”.

14. The number of fields left behind will be 1 less than the number of columns selected in the “Column Chooser” (step 5).

15. Copy the newly edited line.

16. Open the exported data file (from step 8) in Notepad.

17. Delete the column headers (line #1) and replace it with the line from step 15.

18. Save the file and exit Notepad.

19. Open “Microsoft Excel”.

20. Click on | Open.

21. Select the File type to “Text Files (*.prn; *.txt; *.csv)”.

22. Browse to the data file (from step 8) and open it.

23. When “Text Import Wizard” opens (STEP 1 of 3):

a. select “Delimited”.
b. set “Start Import at row” to 1.
c. Click Next.

24. On STEP 2 of 3 of “Text Import Wizard”:

a. Set “Delimiters” to “Comma” only.
b. Check “Treat consecutive delimiters as one” (optional).
c. Click Next.
d. Click Finish.

25. Right click “column A” and select Delete.

26. This file is now properly formatted to be consumed by CSV Data Collector. Save this file in the path specified for “CSV Data Collector” (If unsure where this path is, please see note at the end).

27. Create an Asset Import Job using “CSV Data Collector”.

NOTE:

To find path for CSV Data Collector:

1. Open Control Compliance Suite Console 9.0.

2. Click on Setting | Map View.

3. Right Click “Application Server” and select “Edit Settings”.

4. Select “CSV” under “Data Collector Sites”.

5. Note the “CSV File(s) Path”.
