What's new in LiveUpdate for Macintosh?

Solution

LIVEUPDATE 5.1.2 FEATURES

- Incorporates enhanced digital signing when verifying LiveUpdate downloads as authentic Symantec content. Uses new "SymRoot2" certificate authority to replace an older expiring certificate authority.
----------------------------------------------------
LIVEUPDATE 5.1.1 FEATURES

- LiveUpdate log files are no longer cleared when LiveUpdate itself is updated.

- LiveUpdate now shows dates for last checked and last update, regardless of the user that last ran LiveUpdate.

- Fixed an error that could appear when updating anti-phishing definitions.
----------------------------------------------------
LIVEUPDATE 5.1 FEATURES

- When LiveUpdate is launched from the application icon or from the command line without specifying any parameters, LiveUpdate displays all subscription expiration alerts. In this case, multiple subscription alerts may display in a 24-hour period. If LiveUpdate is run from the command-line using known parameters, it displays subscription expiration alerts only once every 24 hours.

- When renewing the subscription for Norton Internet Security, LiveUpdate bases the new subscription expiration date on the most recently installed/renewed component product. For example, if you renew your Norton Internet Security subscription a month before your Norton AntiVirus subscription expires, your renewed Norton Internet Security subscription will expire 1 year from the Norton AntiVirus expiration date. If the most recent component product subscription has expired, your renewed Norton Internet Security subscription will expire 1 year from the date that you renew the Norton Internet Security subscription.

- When launched from the Norton QuickMenu, the LiveUpdate icon now displays in the Dock and LiveUpdate menus display in the menu bar.
----------------------------------------------------
LIVEUPDATE 5.0.2 FEATURES

- The LiveUpdate 5.0.2 fixes an issue with subscription key entry.
----------------------------------------------------
LIVEUPDATE 5.0.1 FEATURES

- For business enterprise users running Symantec AntiVirus 10.x for Mac, the LiveUpdate 5.0.1 fixes an issue where LiveUpdate 5.0 and earlier did not load new virus definition updates, unless you restarted the computer or turned Symantec AntiVirus Auto-Protect off and on again. This release also prevents Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 for Mac from contacting Symantec servers.
----------------------------------------------------
LIVEUPDATE 5.0 FEATURES

- LiveUpdate 5.0 is automatically installed with newly-released Norton for Mac products, such as Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac. LiveUpdate 5.0 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.9, 10.4.10, and 10.5 (Leopard).

- Includes an improved subscription process.
