Symantec RMS ProcessManager Service or BvProcessManager Service wont stay started in Symantec Control Compliance Suite 9.0 Data Collection

Symptoms
Symantec RMS ProcessManager or BvProcessManager Service starts, but it crashes when refreshed in the Services Console. The Service would not stay started. Symantec RMS Console would not launch because the Symantec RMS Process Manager does not start,



Cause



This happens if the Shared folder 'RMS' is hidden in the installation directory on the CCS9.0 Data Collection Machine.

Solution



Make Sure RMS Shared Folder is not hidden on the CCS9.0 Data Collection Machine. Follow these steps to unhide the RMS Folder under \Program Files\Symantec directory:
  1. Click on Start –> Control Panel –> Folder Options.
  2. Click on the View Tab and check the radio button “Show hidden files and folders” and press OK.
  3. This will enable you to see the hidden folder
  4. Now right click on the hidden folder and uncheck the hidden box and apply the changes to unhide it.

Once we unhide the RMS Folder, the RMS Process Manager service should stay started.



Technical Information
Symantec RMS ProcessManager or BVProcessManager Service is dependent on the RMS Folder. If this folder is missing from the machine, then the RMS Process Manager Service would not start.
