Version Displayed in Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange (SMSMSE) Administration Console for 'Currently Available Version' is Incorrect

Problem

When using the SMSMSE Administration Console the information displayed in the Currently Available Version is not what is expected.

Perform the following steps to view this information:

1. Open the SMSMSE Administration Console.
2. Click on the Home icon.
3. The label Currently Available Version is displayed on the right hand window pane.

The version listed in Currently Available Version may be lower than the currently installed version.

Installed Version: 6.5.0.67

Latest update for installed version: 6.5.5.255

Sunset date for installed version

Currently available version: 6.0.12.297

Currently Available Version

The version listed in the Currently Available Version may be lower than the most recent version available.

Installed Version: 6.0.10.295
Latest update for installed version: 6.0.12.297
Sunset date for installed version
Currently available version: 6.0.12.297

In this example, version 6.0 is installed but 6.5 or higher is available. Currently Available Version should display 6.5 or higher version.

Cause

SMSMSE is displaying the most current build by using the date the build was released. SMSMSE should display the highest version always.

Solution

Upgrade to SMSMSE 6.5.7 or later.

Check the SMSMSE release notes for the most recent builds available for each version:
