Issue



When backing up or restoring the ESX Virtual machine, the beremote.exe on the Media Server without DNS server address configured caused following application error (Event ID 1000).

Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.

 


Cause



An access violation in the VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) on a Media Server without DNS server address configured.

 


Solution



Add the IP address for a DNS server or a dummy DNS server (e.g. 127.0.0.1 Loopback Address) to the Media Server.
