Issue



During a backup of Microsoft Exchange 2007 or 2010 the job may fail with the error "VFF Open Failure. This can be caused by low memory or disk resources."


Error



Unable to complete the operation for the selected resource using the specified options for the following reason: VFF Open Failure. This can be caused by low memory or disk resources.

Backup of a Microsoft Exchange 2007 / 2010 Information store may fail with the above error message during full or incremental backups of the database to a backup to disk or tape device.

Error from the debug logs:
VFF Process ModuleName 8: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\beremote.exe
Starting Persistent Virt VFF id (6912-00001B00) 2.0.46.0
CheckVirtOpen:Unable to see I/O in GRT directory :C:\TEMP\Backup Exec\IMG##\VDB FOLDER
The most likely cause of this problem is that the path is on a DFS share. Suggest using a local drive or non-DFS share.

Error on Virt thread start up (1B00) (0)
Error Aborting OpenVirt
EndDriverSessionThread:SetEvent failed, lastError = 00000006, The handle is invalid.
