Problem
Uninstalling the 64-bit version of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers using Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager (BEIM) SP1 requires a command line update
Error
Error code 1: Operation not permitted.
Solution
Backup Exec
Infrastructure Manager SP1 can uninstall the 32-bit version of the Remote Agent
for Linux and UNIX Servers using the default command line syntax present in
Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager SP1. However, to uninstall the 64-bit version
of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers, the command line for the package
named "Backup Exec RALUS (Linux) Package" must be edited.
To edit the command line:
1) From the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager SP1 Assistant tab, click Settings > All Settings > Backup and Recovery > Backup Exec Packages > Backup Exec RALUS (Linux) Package.
2) In the right pane, click the Programs tab.
3) Ensure that Backup Exec RALUS (Linux) Uninstall Program appears in the list box.
4) In the command line field, edit the command line to read as follows:
./uninstallralus - responsefile ../uninstallralus.reponse
5) Click "Save" and then click "Update distribution points" to update the package for the 64-bit versions of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers.
6) From the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager SP1 Assistant tab, click Settings > All Settings > Backup and Recovery > Backup Exec Policies > Uninstall Backup Exec Packages.
7) Click Backup Exec Remote Agent for Linux or UNIX Servers (Linux) 2010 Uninstall.
8) Click the Off icon so that it changes to ON.
9) Under Applied to, click Apply to > Computers.
10) Select the appropriate computers to uninstall the 64-bit version of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers from.
11) Click OK.
The 64-bit version of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers is uninstalled based on the policy's scheduled delivery time.
NOTE: Using the preceding instructions disables the uninstall process for the 32-bit version of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers. To uninstall
the 32-bit version, repeat the above process. In step 4, change the command line to read as follows:
./uninstallralus - responsefile uninstallralus.reponse
Continue with step 5. Make sure in step 10 to select the appropriate computers from which to uninstall the 32-bit version of the Remote Agent for Linux and UNIX Servers.
