BESR 2010 or SSR 2011  Small Business Server license will not install, says it is invalid.


Error



Info: 6C8F1C25:  Cannot activate this product using license key '##-####-####-######'.  The license key is not valid.

Please enter the correct license key.

--- Cannot install license.

Solution



When entering the Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) 2010 or SSR 2011 Small Business Server license, an error is generated saying that the license key is invalid.
 
Check the server on which the install was done, If it is NOT Windows Small Business Server, but instead Windows Server Edition then the error message would be popped.
 
The BESR Small Business Server license installs ONLY to the Small Business Server versions (2003, 2008, 2010) of the operating system.
 
Likewise, a BESR Desktop license installs only to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. BESR Server Edition licenses install only to Windows 2003, 2003 R2, 2008 and 2008 R2 operating systems.

NOTE: Fixinstall.bat and Cleaning History and Schedule would not be helpful for fixing the issue, as same works for other licensing issues.
