SATA tape drive connected to a Windows Server 2008 x64 Bit Media Server is not detected during an IDR (Intelligent Disaster Recovery) restore.

No device was detected that is capable of restoring the following data.

Solution

Issue:

A SATA tape drive connected to a Windows 2008 x64 Bit Media Server is not detected after selecting the "Use locally attached media device" in the "Select Restore Method" window in the IDR Restore Wizard. "No device was detected that is capable of restoring the following data" error message appear in the "Required Device Not Found" window.

Work-around:

Perform a manual disaster recovery of the machine instead.

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or Hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue is currently scheduled to be addressed in the next major revision of the product.
