Error in the Event Viewer:

Event ID 55 may be logged in the System log when you create many files on an NTFS partition on a Windows Server 2003.

Description: The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume


Cause



On  Windows Server 2003-based or Windows XP-based computer, if an NTFS file system partition was formatted by using an allocation unit size (cluster size) that is smaller than 4,096 bytes and if many files are suddenly created on this partition, Event ID 55 may be logged in the System log:
 

 


Solution



A hotfix is available from Microsoft to resolve the issue.

Event ID 55 may be logged in the System log when you create many files on an NTFS partition on a Windows Server 2003-based or Windows XP-based computer or try to run chkdsk /r or chkdsk /r /f on the selected drive.
