Problem
After adding a disclaimer to a Content Filter or Compliance Policy the recipient can only see the email as an attachment and the disclaimer is shown in the top of the email.
Error
- An image has been added to the clients email signature
- Additional email client options like Sign or Encryption have been added in the Outlook message.
- The correct encoding in the Annotation is used: Western European, according to KB
- A different encoding has been tested like: UTF-8, no difference
Cause
When additional options are added to an email client message there are changes done when encoding and decoding the message both from the SBG and the Recipient MTA.
Solution
The encoding/decoding is working as designed.
To have the email sent from Symantec Brightmail Gateway/Symantec Messaging Gateway to be displayed correctly for the recipient with the text in the body and the disclaimer below, remove any additional options from the message like images from the signature and digital signatures then resend the message.
